I knew I had missed a couple of weeks worth of posts, but a full month... I'm such a slacker. And in reality, basketball ended we wrapped up with a futile attempt at a roller skating party (a completely lost art with kids these days) and I think I jumped full-board into some Relief Society assigments I needed to focus on and just lost track of time.
Bailey finished the season strong with baskets, rebounds, and even an occasional steal in each game. She's much more confident and was a strong team leader on and off the court. She's still playing piano, dancing, a little babysitting, and harassing me everyday if we can get packed for our Spring Break trip. We leave after church next Sunday for a week out of town, but its cute how excited my kids get. She's even looked up online games and activities in the car for the drive down, used her own babysitting money this week to buy her siblings treats and prizes, and brought home a glowing report card from 3rd quarter about her assignments and citizenship.
Chance turned up the heat on his basketball nearer the end and when we finally discovered we could reward his rebounding with time on the computer, he was much more aggressive and it made watching him a lot of fun. He and Gi built a slick little black race car for the Pine-wood Derby where he got his wolf badge, and had fun time racing against all his buddies. His report card had a few less glowing remarks... something about sarcasm and refusal to do work because it was "college work" according to him. (Refer to earlier posts where "I'm not really into work...") and this explains a bit of his attitude. Not quite sure where it came from, but after a good heart-felt chat with his teary Mom, his tender heart as always melts and he's on track to earn some serious computer time by working extra hard at school and thinking before he speaks :)
Reagan is ever fashion conscious as she puts together outfits everyday that generally always require leggings of some sort. She figured out how to do a real cartwheel this week which is a major milestone, we did tumbling for a full year and ended up with a side-saddle frog hop :) but she's doing piano and dance as well and keeping us all on our toes. I get to volunteer in her classroom Monday morning and I just love to see her progressing so well. She's the youngest in her class, but reads with the top 5 kids, even scriptures as night aren't intimidating to our brainy 1st grader. I was so worried about moving her ahead, that's its very reassuring to see her doing so well.
Aly is Mom's stay-at-home buddy with an everyday-social-agenda attitude :) She wants her playschool friends Alex and Keely to come every day to stay for lunch and play, or she's sure that its school and dance every morning that she wakes up and will often put on her tutu before she's got her eyes open. She's taken to "staying home" while I run the kids to school so she can make her bed and sneak on the TV to one-one... luckily Chanel 11 (one-one) is KBYU and the only channel she knows how to get. She does a lot of visiting teaching with me the last few weeks, and has been a good sport about it. She loves to sneak and play on my phone any chance she can get... must be related to Chance and his need for "techy gadgets."
Gi is still driving back and forth from PG each day to work and while he's adjusted some to the drive time, and the days are a bit longer so he can actually see his kids in daylight when he gets home, we still have the house up for sale and are looking to move when it sells. He's enjoying his job, traveled from Southern Cal to Washington and home last month, and now has a three day conference in Vegas next week. Works out for the kids and I to just stay and swim at the pool while he's gone so it will be a good Spring Break for all of us.
I'm still teaching 3 days a week at the gym, its been a bit rough the last two weeks after the time change, my body is SURE its still 4:10am when I roll out of bed, even though the clock assures it is 5:10, but I've been tired to say the least. I've also been introduced to the "Sisters Report" of visiting teaching as of late and have been trying to be a bit more like my Mom and knocking doors and visiting with sisters who've been lost for a good long while. I hope when I grow up I can be just like her :)
Life is busy, between our own Piano lessons and those I "trade", meals, cleaning, Activity Days, Scouts, and Relief Society its not a surprise that a big night out on the town consists of a red box for the kids while we run to get a Quizno's sandwich here in town. Kids over everyday, homework and projects, playdates and dance... its the story of every mom and I really feel exceptionally grateful everyday that I get to claim that title. I know there are hundred jobs and bills that would pull me to do them each and everyday, but for Gi and I, the sacrifice to have me be home has been one we both feel is well worth it. So time may keep ticking, but so does our life, our fun, and our love. At least our next entry will include some report of sunshine (something that sneaked out for a couple days two weeks back, then promptly snowed to remind us who's really boss!) Lots of love from the Rogersons!!
